Famous Footwear will open at the Centre at Glen Burnie, 6711 Ritchie Highway, at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Tech Council seeks award nominees

The Anne Arundel Tech Council is now accepting nominations from companies for TechAwards 07.

The categories for nominations are Innovator of the Year, the Good Chip Award, Tech Company of the Year and Tech Services Award.

The deadline for nominations is Thursday. The top three nominees will be announced by Oct. 8.

Winners will be announced at TechAwards 07, which will be held at 6 p.m., Nov. 6 at Loews Annapolis Hotel.

Marketing firm to hold happy hour

RiverWest Marketing will hold BREWFEST, a happy hour with drinks and networking.

Riverfest accepting vendor applications

Laurel Riverfest organizers are accepting applications from vendors and entertainers to participate in the 13th annual event.

First-time applicants must send representative samples of their merchandise, or photos or images.

Applications must be received by Friday.

Riverfest will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 13 in Riverfront Park and on the river walk along the Patuxent River.

Baysox to co-host career fair Friday

The Bowie Baysox, the Maryland Workforce Exchange and Economic Development Corp. of Prince George's County will host the 11th Central Maryland Career Fair at Prince George's Stadium from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.

More than 60 employers will attend.

Word of mouth to be discussed

The Gambrills Thursday Morning B chapter of Business Network International Inc. will host a visitors day to discuss the impact that word-of-mouth marketing has on local businesses' bottom line.

Restaurant raises funds for foundation

The Annapolis Applebee's raised $8,469 for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation this summer.

In July and August, Applebee's sold paper lemons and glasses of lemonade to customers to raise money for the charity, which supports efforts to find a cure for childhood cancer.

Applebee's raised nearly $360,000.

Annapolis company forms alliance

Buan Consulting, Inc. of Annapolis and Exponent Partners, Inc. of San Francisco have formed an alliance to improve the management and delivery of constituent services for nonprofit and government agencies.

Buan provides secure, customized knowledge management to government agencies.

Riding group seeks interim director

The board of Maryland Therapeutic Riding Inc. is seeking an interim executive director who would serve for the rest of the year.

Anne Arundel Economic Development Corp. has announced the appointment of Kirkland J. Murray and the promotion of Owen Meeks as business development directors.
