John B. Scott, a retired maintenance supervisor and Air Force veteran, died Sunday of cancer at the Windsor Mill home of a sister. He was 71.
Mr. Scott was born in Baltimore and raised on West North Avenue. After graduating from Douglass High School in 1954, he enlisted in the Air Force, where he served until being honorably discharged in 1965.
Mr. Scott worked as a civilian employee and supervisor of an Air Force commissary. He later moved to Alexandria, Va., where he worked for many years for Raytheon Co. as maintenance supervisor.
After retiring in 2000, he moved to Randallstown. He enjoyed taking gambling vacations to Las Vegas and Atlantic City. He was also an avid Ravens, Orioles and tennis fan.
Services for Mr. Scott will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Wylie Funeral Home, 9200 Liberty Road, Randallstown.
Surviving are a son, Damon Scott of Laurel; a daughter, O'Londy Scott of Capitol Heights; two sisters, Agnes Scott Barnhill of Windsor Mill and Dorothy Richardson of Baltimore; and two grandchildren. His marriage to the former Dorothea Taylor ended in divorce.
