Terry V. Shaw, Ph.D., has joined the faculty of the University of Maryland School of Social Work as an assistant professor. Shaw will be integrating his research interest in the impact of federal and state child welfare policies on families and children. He previously held positions at University of California, Berkeley School of Social Work.
Bethany Lee, Ph.D., brings extensive research experience related to child welfare and mental health to her new position as assistant professor at the University of Maryland School of Social Work. She completed a National Institute of Mental Health-funded predoctoral fellowship with the Center for Mental Health Services Research at the Brown School of School Work at Washington University.
Dr. Will Parsons has joined the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center as an instructor in oncology in the Division of Pediatric Oncology. He has been an integral member on a team sequencing 15,000 genes from several cases of glioblastoma multiforme and medulloblastoma, two aggressive forms of brain cancer. Parsons' work has resulted in published papers in Science and Nature magazines. He is a winner of the Young Investigator Award conferred by the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Dr. Heather Symons has joined the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center as an instructor in oncology in the Division of Pediatric Oncology. Symons is concentrating on the field of immunobiology of bone marrow transplantation, planning to develop protocols for pediatric and adult patients.
