Lucky Ravens

The Ravens should send Jets receiver Justin McCareins a gift basket, but he would probably drop that, too. McCareins' inability to catch two potential touchdown passes on the Jets' final drive stopped the game from going into overtime and allowed the Ravens to escape with a 20-13 win. The game essentially ended when a pass went off McCareins' hands in the end zone and fell into Ray Lewis' arms.

Coming attraction

The Ravens play the Arizona Cardinals, who know how the Ravens feel. After blowing a 17-0 lead, the Cardinals survived in a 23-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks. After Matt Hasselbeck fumbled, Neil Rackers kicked a 41-yard field goal with one second left for the victory.

Star of the game

In his first start in 20 months, Kyle Boller (left) delivered a solid performance in replacing the injured Steve McNair (groin). Known for his inconsistency during his three-year run as a starter, Boller was composed throughout the game, completing 23 of 35 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns. After the game, McNair said it was too early to tell whether he would be able to start Sunday.

Play of the game

With the Ravens ahead 10-3 late in the second quarter, tight end Todd Heap caught a 4-yard touchdown pass that was first ruled an incompletion. But the officials reversed the call after the replay showed that Heap dragged his right foot inbounds on the left side of the end zone. It was only six days ago when Heap's game-tying touchdown catch was negated when he was called for pass interference.

Bad call of the game

With the Ravens leading 20-13 with 3:12 left in the game, coach Brian Billick decided to throw the ball instead of running it, which would have taken some time off the clock. Boller's pass was incomplete to Demetrius Williams, who hurt his arm on the play. On that series, the Ravens used 34 seconds.

Injury report

Defensive lineman Trevor Pryce (right) broke his left wrist and did not return. Williams has a bruised arm, and tight end Quinn Sypniewski complained of a sore neck.
