Howard County police reported that two men robbed a customer outside a Clarksville bank Saturday afternoon, and that one of the suspects is accused of walking away from a correctional facility in Baltimore.
Two men approached the male victim, who was making a business bank deposit at the Citizens National Bank on Clarksville Drive about 2 p.m., police said. One man pistol-whipped the victim and took a bank bag containing an undisclosed sum of money, police said. The pair escaped in a vehicle.
A county police officer spotted the vehicle and followed it onto westbound Route 32, where it veered into a ditch. Both men were arrested without incident. One suffered a minor eye injury and was treated at Howard County General Hospital, then released into police custody. The other suspect refused treatment for a minor ear injury.
Charged with armed robbery and assault were Antoine Skipwith, 30, of the 300 block of Joppa Crossing Court in Joppa and Joseph Fields, 19, of the 2500 block of Robb St. in East Baltimore.
Police said the men were being held without bail at the county central booking facility in Jessup pending a bail review hearing today in District Court.
Police said Skipwith had walked away from the Baltimore City Correctional Center; the date of that incident was unavailable.
