The Fifth District Volunteer Fire Department will hold its first country breakfast of the season from 8 a.m. to noon today at Ten Oaks Ballroom in Clarksville.
The menu includes pancakes, sausage, bacon, potatoes, scrapple, eggs and trimmings. Food will be available until noon.
Adults pay $7; children ages 4 to 10 pay $4. Those ages 60 and older pay $6.
Horse rescue group plans fall festival
Days End Farm Horse Rescue in Lisbon will hold its annual Fall Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 29.
A contest with horses in costume begins at 1 p.m. Pony rides, a petting zoo, face-painting, pumpkin-decorating, games, door prizes, farm tours and food are planned. Live music has been donated by Cliff Art, a musical group. Fiddlers will supply bluegrass tunes. This year's festival also features a 50/50 raffle.
Admission is $5 for families; $2 for adults, and $1 for children to age 12. Those younger than 6 are admitted free.
Proceeds will benefit abused and neglected horses and ponies cared for at the nonprofit organization. Donations are tax-deductible.
The farm is at 15856 Frederick Road, east of the traffic circle at Routes 144 and 94.
Web designer to offer tips
Web designer Eileen Buckholtz, president of Technology Concepts, will offer tips for creating Web sites for small businesses, organizations and individuals at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Glenwood branch library, 2350 Route 97, Cooksville.
Participants will learn how to register a domain name, conduct e-commerce and e-market products and services. Registration for "Developing Web Sites 101," begins Sept. 25.

Drawing classes -- KidzArt, a fine-arts education program for children, is organizing fall drawing classes for home-schooled children in Columbia and western Howard County. The six-week sessions for ages 5 to 11 begin this week at Kahler Hall in the Harper's Choice Village Center and Gethsemane Baptist Church, 14135 Burntwoods Road, Glenwood. The program is not affiliated with the church. Classes at Gethsemane will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday and Sept. 27 and Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25. Classes at Kahler Hall will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday and Sept. 26 and Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24. The cost is $70 for the six-class series, with a $5 discount for siblings.
