Man gets 10 years in drug case

The Baltimore Sun

A Catonsville man was sentenced yesterday to 10 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute more than 2.2 pounds of heroin and more than 10 pounds of cocaine, the U.S. attorney's office in Maryland said.

Stanley Pinckney, 46, pleaded guilty to the drug charges after a confidential source tipped off agents with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration that Pinckney and Kevin Burwell were about to obtain a large amount of narcotics from a dealer in New York, prosecutors said.

The prosecutors said Burwell was arrested in a parking lot in Baltimore County as he took possession of drugs during an undercover buy with a DEA agent. Prosecutors said a search of storage containers and residences of Burwell and Pinckney turned up a scale, presses with drug residue and "other equipment used in narcotics trafficking."

Burwell, 49, pleaded guilty to the charges and on Aug. 24 was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
