Five wacky women have taken their act on the road. Following the success of their boutique in Cockeysville's Antique Row, this month they opened a second shop in Hampden, in the basement and around the back of historic Hampden Hall.

"We were five good friends with different creative ideas who did home shows," said owner Aimee Smith, who designed purses, but who also has a background in retail. "But I've always wanted my own shop."

Operating "a store with personality," the women work hard to find unusual gifts, home decorations and personal items, such as gift bags that come with their own sound effects and kitchen timers that moo and meow.

There are lots of crab and flamingo-themed items, baby and pet gifts, books, jewelry and girlfriend gifts displayed on home furnishings and lighted by funky lamps that are also for sale or order.

But Lola, the Carmen Miranda-style tabletop fountain might say "wacky women" best.

"The point of the store is to have a good time," said Smith.

Clearly, Smith and her friends are.
