Baton twirlers winners at nationals

Teammates Shelby Anderson and Sarah Zoll returned recently from the NBTA baton twirling nationals as World Open Solo champions.

The national competition, which draws twirlers from all over the United Statesmand includes open events for competitors from Canada, Europe and the Caribbean, was held at Notre Dame University in South Bend, Ind.

Sarah won the Advanced Tiny Tot World Open Solo. Shelby won the Novice 12-year-old World Open Solo competing against more than 40 girls.

In other solo events, Sarah placed first runner-up in the Advanced Tiny Tot World Open Strut and Beginner Tiny Tot World Open 2 Baton, and was third runner-up for Miss Majorette of America.

Shelby placed seventh in Novice World Open 2 Baton, competing against more than 50 girls, and ninth in Open Solo Dance.
