Glenelg High to hold rededication ceremony

Glenelg High School, 10425 Burntwoods Road, will hold a rededication ceremony in honor of the school's 50th anniversary at 2 p.m. Sept. 16 in the school's auditorium.

The ceremony is one of a number of activities scheduled during the next few weeks to mark the school's golden anniversary.

Lisbon fire company bingo on Sept. 23

Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company will hold a basket bingo at 4 p.m. Sept. 23 in the fire hall, 1330 Woodbine Road, Lisbon. Doors open at 3 p.m. Prizes are Longaberger baskets, pottery and wrought-iron items filled with treats.

Admission is $15 in advance, which includes a free game; or $18 at the door, if tickets are available. Tickets include 20 games and door prizes. Specials and raffles are also planned.

Food will be available.

Community yard sale -- The River Hill Community Association will sponsor a Community Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, rain or shine. The association will advertise the event and place signs in the community the day before the sale. Participating streets will be listed in local newspapers. Ribbons will be distributed for the street signs of participating streets. A local charity collection truck will be available at the River Hill Pool from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday to dispose of items not sold. Household items that have to be installed and metal desks will not be accepted. All electrical items must be in good condition. Life coaching -- The Glenwood library, 2350 Route 97, Cooksville, will offer "Life Coaching," individual mini-sessions with John Robinson, a professional life and relationship coach and founder of Green Side Up Coaching, at 7 p.m. Sept. 17. Registration is required for a session, which promises to start participants on the road to change. 410-313-5577.

Drawing classes -- KidzArt, a fine-arts education program for children, is organizing fall drawing classes for home-schooled children in Columbia and western Howard County. The six-week sessions for ages 5 to 11 begin the week of Sept. 17 at Kahler Hall in the Harper's Choice Village Center and Gethsemane Baptist Church, 14135 Burntwoods Road, Glenwood. The program is not affiliated with the church. Classes at Gethsemane will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sept. 20, 27 and Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25. Classes at Kahler Hall will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sept. 19, 26 and Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24. The cost is $70 for the six-class series, with a $5 discount for siblings.
