Q&A; Mark Clayton

The Baltimore Sun

Ravens wide receiver Mark Clayton is dabbling in fantasy football. Joining a group of NFL players that includes St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson, Detroit Lions wide receiver Roy Williams and San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis at, Clayton, who picked fifth, drafted Joseph Addai, Marvin Harrison, Tom Brady, Cedric Benson, Hines Ward, Cadillac Williams, the Ravens defense and himself in the first eight rounds.

What was your strategy heading into the draft? Running backs. You've got to go with running backs. They put points on the board, and there's only about four or five quarterbacks that you know that are going to throw at least 25 touchdowns. So you've got to get your sure bets.

How weird was it to draft Addai, Harrison, Brady and Ward, four guys whom the Ravens will play against this season? It is weird that you're kind of hoping for them to do well except for the week that you play them. It's cool, though. I mean, I'm excited about it and seeing how it turns out and everything.

Which pick represents the biggest stretch? I actually picked up Ted Ginn [in the 11th round]. He's an explosive player and could be this year's Maurice Jones-Drew. Possibly.
