Blitz block party
The lowdown -- Check out the sounds of June Star, a Baltimore-based roots rock band, at Saturday's Breast Cancer Blitz Block Party. Also slated to perform is Pennsylvania musician Scott Wham. The party benefits breast cancer awareness, prevention and treatment programs.

March of Dimes ride
The lowdown -- Motorcycle riders will gather to raise money at Sunday's Harford County March of Dimes Ride. At noon, riders will head out from Ripken Stadium, 873 Long Drive in Aberdeen, and cover about 50 miles of road, ending at the stadium. On Saturday at 3 p.m., riders can take part in the Frederick event, which leaves from Harley Davidson of Frederick at 5722 Urbana Pike and ends at Cancun Cantina West, 901 Dual Highway, Hagerstown.

Brits by the Bay
The lowdown -- See a variety of vintage British cars at Saturday's Brits By the Bay show, held by the Triumphs Around the Chesapeake.
If you go -- The rain-or-shine show is at John H. Downs Memorial Park, 8311 John Downs Loop, Pasadena, at 9:30 a.m. Registration for the show is $15-$20. Entrance to the park is free for registered British cars and $5 for others.
The lowdown -- This year's Anne Arundel County Fair runs Wednesday through Sept. 16. On opening night, admission is one 14-ounce or larger can of food and $1. This year's events include demonstrations, an Arundel Idol contest, tractor pull, concert by Steve Holy and more.
