DHL opens new facility at BWI

DHL, a global express delivery and logistics company, has announced the opening of a facility at the BWI-Marshall Airport.

The $1.6 million, 18,663-square- foot facility will have 25 percent more space than the company's previous operations at the airport, as well as improved material-handling equipment for aircraft container loading and unloading.

The facility will handle additional routes in Baltimore and Howard County. It employs about 30 people, including couriers, administrative staff, managers, and sales and security personnel.

DHL recently completed a $1.2 billion expansion of its United States domestic network and infrastructure, including seven new regional sort centers and distribution facilities for the east and west coasts in Allentown, Pa. and Riverside, Calif., according to a news release.
