OUTLOOK -- The inexperienced Cavaliers are coming off an 8-9-2 season that included two losses to the Cardinals by scores of 4-0 and 4-3. Calvert Hall, 12-6-2 last fall and one of the top teams in the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference, is led by senior forward Christian Barreiro.

OUTLOOK -- Coach Mike Whittles' two-time defending Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association B Conference champion Cavaliers face A Conference upstart Mount St. Joseph in a nonleague contest. The Gaels went 3-7 last season, but are expected to be one of the area's most improved teams. Whittles, who has built a successful program at Spalding (31-2 past three years, including 11-0 last season), has also scheduled Gilman of the A Conference for an Oct. 12 home date.
Riverdale Baptist vs. Annapolis Area Christian School

WHERE -- Broadneck High
OUTLOOK -- The Eagles are playing the first football game in school history. Kenny Lucas, who was the Gonzaga (D.C.) coach for seven years, started the program. After Riverdale, the Eagles will host Maryland Christian and then begin play in the MIAA C Conference with St. John's Catholic Prep, Lutheran and Friends.

OUTLOOK -- The Patriots, annual contenders in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland A Conference, have four returning starters from last fall's 16-3-2 team. With four-year starting defender Amy Olson leading the way, the Wildcats (7-5-3 last season) look to make a run in the Anne Arundel County league.

OUTLOOK -- Coming off a down season, Spalding (10-9-1 last year) opened with an impressive 6-0 victory over Good Counsel of Wheaton. Spalding will be facing goalie Abigail Bisbee, who had 11 shutouts last season for the 16-3-1 the defending IAAM A champion.
