For meteorologists, Summer 2007 ends today. It was a hot one, 1.5 degrees above average for BWI, and the seventh hotter-than-average summer of the past 10. But it was 1 degree cooler than 2006. We saw 33 days reach 90 degrees or more (June through August), four fewer than last year. We topped 100 degrees on Aug. 8. Rain at BWI fell 2 inches short of average, deepening a drought that began in April. Cooling demand ran 12 percent above average.
