Baltimore chamber honors Smith-Howard

County resident Gail Smith-Howard, general manager of the Hyatt Regency Baltimore, was among the recipients of the Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce's Year of the Woman Awards at a ceremony at the Engineers Club of Baltimore last month.

The awards were given to celebrate prominent local businesswomen who have taken a leadership role in the city.

Smith-Howard, who was appointed general manager of the hotel in 2005, serves on the boards of the Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association and the Maryland Hotel & Lodging Association.

She is a member of the advisory committee for the Greater Baltimore Committee and a member of the Hospitality boards of Morgan State University and the University of Delaware.
