Clouds, and sunshine, in Liz's debut

The Baltimore Sun

The Orioles got pretty much what they expected last night from the major league debut of Radhames Liz. There were moments of great promise, such as the hard slider that he struck out Michael Cuddyer with in the second inning, or the high 97 mph fastball that he threw past Torii Hunter in the fourth inning.

But there were also plenty of times where Liz reminded the Orioles that he was just a 24-year-old kid, pitching above Double-A for the first time in his career. Liz made a few too many mistakes and his offense gave him little support as the Orioles dropped their fifth straight game, falling 8-1 to the Minnesota Twins in front of an announced 28,700 that braved a nearly two-hour rain delay.
