Michael Murray Brown, a Marine who served in the Vietnam War, died of mesothelioma, a rare form of cancer, Friday at his Severna Park home. He was 60.

His military service also included stints in the Army Reserve Special Forces as a Green Beret and the Maryland National Guard.

Born in Washington, he grew up there and in Rochester, Mich.

For 27 years, he worked as an electrical engineer for the Joseph E. Seagram/Diageo Corporation in Relay.

Mr. Brown, an outdoors enthusiast, managed the Boater's World shops in Easton and Glen Burnie. He enjoyed white-water kayaking, fencing and fishing, said Diane Dayton Brown, his wife of 25 years.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew by the Bay Church in Annapolis.

Besides his wife, Mr. Brown is survived by three daughters, Donna Michelle Brown, Laura Marie Brown and Carolyn Ann Brown, all of Severna Park. Also surviving are his mother, Martha Helen Brown of Washington and three brothers, Christopher Brown of Sylvania, Ohio, Stephen M. Brown of Takoma Park and Timothy S. Brown of Washington.
