An unidentified man was shot shortly after midnight while at the wheel of a Jeep Cherokee, which ended up in a backyard pool in West Baltimore. Police said he was an apparent robbery victim.

LAST YEAR: Baltimore had recorded 176 homicides as of Aug. 25, 2006.
