Musical theater classes offered

Theatreworks...Live! Inc. will offer fall musical theater classes at County Ballet Dance Studio, 2232 Old Emmorton Road, Bel Air.

Available programs include:

Theatreworks Jr.: "Pretending" for ages 4-7 from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays Sept. 22 to Nov. 10. Students will listen to short stories, poems and plays, and act them out, ending in a presentation. The cost is $50.

Musical Theatreworks: "Broadway Comes Alive" for ages 8-17 from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m. Saturdays Sept. 22 to Nov. 10. Youths will focus on acting skills, vocal presentation, stage movement and dance, and give a presentation. The cost is $80.

Acting FUNdamentals: for ages 11-17 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays Sept. 21 to Nov. 9. Actors will learn to develop characters, interact with other actors and work on line interpretation and acting techniques. Tuition is $75. Students should arrive no later than 10 minutes before class and be picked up promptly afterward.

Tuition includes a $15 administrative fee. Tuition will be refunded in case of cancellation because of insufficient enrollment.

Book chronicles Cecil maritime

Arcadia Publishing recently issued Maritime Cecil County, a new book in its "Images of America" series.

Written by Christopher Knauss, the book offers an informative history of the maritime activity along Cecil County, Maryland's five major rivers, the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal, and the Chesapeake Bay.

More than 200 images, mostly archival photos, are included in this 126-page paperback with captions explaining the history behind each picture.
