Carters and others honored by Arc

Karen and Gary Carter, volunteers for the Arc of Howard County, have been recognized by the organization with Excellence Awards for their contribution to programs for people with cognitive and developmental disabilities.

Also recognized were educators Cheryl Santoni, Faye Ebron, Jennifer Bishop and the second-grade team at Elkridge Elementary School; the wrestling coaches at Oakland Mill High School; and martial arts instructor Jun K. Lee.

Others honored for their efforts were Karen and Ron Pagano of Coffee News of Maryland; Rebeka Rowan, Ed Simpson and Jane Chambers of New Spirit Community Church; Kim Jarrett and Meghan Lehane of the Howard County Family YMCA; Coach Tim Bates and the Clippers basketball team; Erin and Adam Nickel of St. John's Episcopal Church; and Mary Meyerson of Oseh Shalom Religious School.

Dennis Anderson and Juan Carroll, who receive services from the Arc of Howard County, were recognized by members of the Arc's management team for their success in living a full community life.

The Arc of Howard County, established in 1961, provides housing, job placement, vocational training and support services for those with cognitive and developmental disabilities and their families.
