Rangers update

Texas is tied with the Chicago White Sox for the second-worst record in the American League. The Rangers have won just three of their past 13 road games, and their 22 road wins are the second fewest in the majors. Texas posted winning records in June and July after starting the season 19-35. Since Aug. 1, outfielder Frank Catalanotto has batted .404 (19-for-47). Rookie catcher-first baseman Jarrod Saltalamacchia, obtained from the Atlanta Braves in the Mark Teixeira trade, hit home runs Friday and Saturday. Former Oriole Sammy Sosa's playing time has been cut significantly with the Rangers going with a youth movement. Sosa has made just two starts since Aug. 8. The Rangers took two of three from the Orioles at Ameriquest Field in the last series before the All-Star break.
