In late May, I traveled to Asturias, a small province in northwest Spain, to view a possible vacation home and also to get back in touch with my Spanish roots. My father and my grandparents are from a small town called Pola de Allande, and I spent several summers there. My family goes back many generations and can be traced back to the time of the First Crusades. A perfect illustration of this is Palacio Cienfuegos, a Romanesque castle dating back to the 1200s that overlooks the town. I had not been back in many years, and it was a welcome sight seeing the castle and the town where I spent my youth.
