Shuffling the deck

With guard Chris Chester (foot) and tackle Steve Edwards (knee) nursing injuries, the offensive line featured a few different looks. At times, Jason Brown would move from left guard to center and Keydrick Vincent would fill the vacancy. Another look included Mike Flynn at center, Brown at left guard and Vincent at right guard.

Secondary steaming

There weren't many completed passes during the afternoon practice. In a span of the first five snaps of an 11-on-11 drill, free safety Ed Reed and cornerbacks Chris McAlister and Evan Oglesby each knocked down throws, and linebacker Bart Scott grabbed an interception.

How about a timeout, Coach?

It's unclear whether defensive line coach Clarence Brooks was disciplining his players, but Brooks ordered all of the defensive linemen and a few linebackers to do a series of up-downs in the end zone before resuming individual drills during both the morning and afternoon sessions.

"Go before you leave the house. Didn't anybody ever tell you that?" - Brooks to defensive tackle Anthony Bryant, who left practice briefly to use the restroom

Offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden (turf toe) and linebackers Mike Smith (shoulder surgery) and Dan Cody (knee surgery) are on the physically-unable-to-perform list and did not practice. Tight end Daniel Wilcox (sprained ankle) and running back P.J. Daniels (tweaked hamstring) also did not take part in practice.

Today's practices are 8:15 a.m. to 10:35 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.
