The Baltimore Sun

Shake off this downy sleep, death's counterfeit, and look, tonight, as the Earth is pelted with comet dust. It's the annual Perseid meteor shower, triggered each August as our planet plows through debris tossed off by Comet Swift-Tuttle. The forecast is promising, and there's no moon to interfere. Drive to the country, far from urban lights. Look between 12:30 a.m. and Monday's dawn. We could see 50 to 100 meteors hourly under ideal conditions. No gear needed. Just bring a lawn chair or blanket, and look up.
