Yvonne Hamilton-Curtis, a retired mathematics teacher, died Aug. 2 of lymphoma at Franklin Square Hospital Center. The Cedonia resident was 59.
Born Yvonne A. Hamilton in Philadelphia and raised in Coatesville, Pa., she earned a bachelor's degree from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania and a master's degree in education from Temple University.
In the 1990s, she was a mathematics teacher at Frederick Douglass High School, and she also worked in the Futures program to help at-risk youths.
Mrs. Hamilton-Curtis was a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority and enjoyed reading.
She was a member of the Empowerment Temple African Methodist Episcopal Church.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Home, 4905 York Road.
Survivors include her husband of 13 years, Ronald Curtis; two daughters, Rhonda Curtis and Vivian Curtis, both of Baltimore; her mother, Vivian Hamilton of Coatesville; a sister, Connie Hamilton of Washington; and three brothers, Edward Hamilton of Philadelphia, Richard Hamilton of Coatesville and Vernon Lee Grant of Detroit.
