Elizabeth Marie Ruark, a homemaker and an avid golfer, died Friday of complications from Parkinson's disease at her Severna Park home. She was 84.

Born Elizabeth Marie Fischer in Baltimore and raised in Southwest Baltimore, she was a 1941 graduate of Western High School. As a young woman, she was a secretary for the meatpackers union and worked on Redwood Street in downtown Baltimore.

She met her future husband, John Ruark, a Westinghouse manager, while a member of the Charmers, a social organization that met at the old Colonial Stables in Northeast Baltimore.

Mrs. Ruark played at Bay Hills Golf Club in Arnold and made two holes-in-one. She also enjoyed cooking, oil painting, fishing and other sports.

Services will be held at noon today at Barranco & Sons Severna Park Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway.

In addition to her husband of 58 years, survivors include a son, Lou Ruark of Stevensville; a daughter, Linda Marie Kiser of West River; a brother, William Fischer of Baltimore; a sister, Catherine Allen of Glen Burnie; and a grandson.
