Two-part concert opens Saturday
Carroll County Independent Rock has joined with Carroll County Extreme Music Corp. to present a two-part rock concert of local bands Saturday at the Carroll Arts Center, 91 W. Main St., Westminster.
Extreme Music will host five bands from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., including Darkness Foretold, Abomination Desolation, Epic Harvest, A Ghost in the A.M. and Burn Your Wings.
Independent Rock's lineup from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. will feature Lauren D'Aria, the Niki Barr Band, Fourth Element and Woodbine Hotline.
Tickets are $7.
Artists' promotional items will be available for purchase during the event. Concessions will be available, with proceeds to benefit the Century Cheer Team.

Concerts offered at Baldwin's Station
Uptown Concerts has announced its concerts for the month at Baldwin's Station in Sykesville.
The Hard Travelers will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday. The group -- Kenn Roberts, Mack Bailey, Mike Munford, Jon Glik and Ira Gitlin -- performs original folk, country and bluegrass tunes that they use as a fundraiser for cystic fibrosis and other charities. Tickets are $18.
Innovative banjo player Tony Trischka will perform at 8 p.m. Aug. 16. His traditional and original tunes mesh bluegrass, jazz, rock and classical. Tickets are $17.
Father-son team Jon and Ben Carroll will perform at 8 p.m. Aug. 23. Jon Carroll and his wife, Margot Chapman, were part of Starland Vocal Band. The band had a 1976 hit, "Afternoon Delight." Jon and Ben will perform tunes from their new album. Tickets are $15.
Baldwin's Station is at 7618 Main St. The concert room opens at 6:30 p.m. for dinner and seating.
