Q&A; -- Dawan Landry

The Baltimore Sun

In just his first season in the NFL, Dawan Landry led all rookies in interceptions with five, finished fifth on the team in tackles with 89, and earned a spot on the All-Rookie team. Already, the strong safety from Georgia Tech has been tabbed by teammates Ed Reed and Bart Scott as the next Raven to earn an invitation to the Pro Bowl.

What did you want to improve on in the offseason?

After last season, [secondary coach Dennis Thurman] wanted each of us guys to get 10 percent better. So we tried to get 10 percent better on everything. We watched a lot of film, worked hard in the weight room and just tried to get better as a whole.

Your brother LaRon just signed a five-year, $41.5 million deal with the Washington Redskins. Do you think he'll buy you a gift?

If he gets me one, that would be great. If not, that's OK. I'm just happy for him.

Will it be weird to see your brother on the opposing sideline during Saturday's scrimmage?

Yeah, that's going to be real weird. I've never played against him. This is going to be my first time. I'm going to be anxious to play against him. Hopefully, I'll see him on special teams.

Bart Scott has given you the nickname of "Puffy" for your massive arms. What do you think of the nickname?

I get a lot of jokes and stuff like that. They call me big and say that I'm bigger than Bart. But it's funny. You have to have skin like an armadillo around here.
