When Aimee Bracken decided to open her own high-end fashion boutique, she brought something different to the table. Instead of having a buyer's background, she was an art director and graphic designer. Her new shop and the clothes in it reflect her taste and her design sense.

Form isn't a boutique you'd expect to find in Hampden, which is best known for its funky, eclectic stores. But Bracken says she saw the neighborhood's potential for "raising the level of shopping."

The designer lines she carries include Vera Wang Lavender, a "bridge" group of separates; Mint Jodi Arnold, which has a slight vintage feel; and Bensoni's very detailed, edgy pieces. She also offers a one-on-one personal shopping and styling service in her second-floor studio. (By appointment only.)

Bracken, who originally envisioned her boutique's clientele as being in their 30s and 40s, has been surprised at the age range of women who shop there -- from girls looking for prom dresses to women in their 50s. The clothes have a sophistication that transcends generations. Her best sellers, she says, are dresses and one-of-a-kind pieces for special events.
