Crosby announces hires, promotion

Crosby Marketing Communications has announced several new hires and one promotion.

Gene Tallarico joins the creative department as senior copywriter. He previously worked with Discovery Communications on marketing campaigns.

Charlotte Schneider, formerly employed by WCI Communities headquartered in Florida, joins Crosby as a senior account executive.

April Preston joins Crosby as an assistant account executive. She previously worked for Wachovia Financial Center.

Crosby has also promoted Gina Kalwa to senior account executive.

Bohny honored for tourism work

Steve Bohny, national account executive of VenueQuest, a meeting planning company, has won the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Conference and Visitors Bureau's Most Valuable Partner award.

Bohny will receive the award in September for his contribution to local tourism via his Paul Reed Smith Guitar open house, which is projected to bring 1,500 guests to the Annapolis area.

Bohny has worked with VenueQuest for the past several months.

Trade group names board vice president

The Printing and Graphics Association MidAtlantic, a nonprofit trade group, has named Jay Goldscher, vice president of Whitmore Group in Annapolis to the board.

Printing and Graphics Association MidAtlantic represents printing and graphic communications businesses in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Washington.

Annapolis picks development aide

Karen S. Gindes has joined the Annapolis Office of Economic Development as a marketing associate.

Gindes previously worked for Bowie as an economic and community development specialist.

Pfaltzgraff rises to rank of sergeant

Anne Arundel County Sheriff Ron Bateman has announced his first promotion, with Deputy Tanya Pfaltzgraff's promotion to the rank of sergeant.

She began her career with the Sheriff's Office, both as a volunteer and as a part-time deputy, 13 years ago, working with the warrant research team. In 1997 she became a full-time deputy.

She is also an EMT for the West Annapolis Volunteer Fire Department and is working toward a bachelor's degree in criminal psychology through the University of Maryland.

BankAnnapolis promotes Smith

BankAnnapolis has promoted Tracy L. Smith to the position of vice president and branch sales manager.

Smith will oversee sales at all seven of BankAnnapolis' branches, including achieving deposit and loan goals, and managing branch sales training programs.

Smith has more than 16 years of banking experience.

AACC to present executive training

Anne Arundel Community College hosts an executive breakfast and presentation to introduce its Balanced Scorecard training for executives of businesses and organizations in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area.

The Balanced Scorecard system teaches managers and executives to mobilize employees to fulfill an organization's mission and to translate strategic goals into action plans.

The breakfast and presentation will be from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Aug. 9 at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore, 300 Light St.

Registration for the breakfast is $100 per person. Preregistration is recommended.
