Last Train Home
The lowdown -- Originally based in Washington, Last Train Home became a full-time band in 2003 when guitarist/singer Eric Brace left his job as a music columnist for The Washington Post. The band now works from Nashville, Tenn., where it recently recorded and released a new album, Last Good Kiss. Tomorrow, the band comes to Rams Head Tavern in Annapolis.

Pelican at Ottobar
The lowdown -- The Chicago-based band Pelican brings its instrumental rock to the Ottobar tomorrow. Its songs are a mixture of ambient and harder rock. Earth, Preistbird and Your Black Bird will open the show.

Earthtones at 8x10
The lowdown -- Tonight, Annapolis-based ambient jammers Earthtone kick off a four-week Thursday residency at the 8x10. The band released its self-titled debut album at the beginning of this year. Live, the group combines structured songs with sometimes-planned, sometimes-spur-of-the-moment instrumental jams. Each concert is different. What's Wrong With Rosalie? will also play.
