Auditions set for 'The Nutcracker'

Harford Dance Theatre at Harford Community College will hold auditions Aug. 12 for dancers and actors for the company's 25th production of The Nutcracker.

Directors Jessica Treherne and Lisa Mion will conduct auditions in the Amoss rehearsal studio at Harford Technical High School in Bel Air.

Performers age 8 to adult are needed. Performance dates are Nov. 30 to Dec. 2.

Dancers may audition in more than one category, as appropriate to their training level, and all dancers must arrive 30 minutes early to register.

All dancers should wear appropriate dance wear and shoes.

The audition schedule is:

Children age 8 to 13 with a minimum of one to two years' ballet training: registration at 10 a.m., audition from 10:30 a.m. to noon for Party Children, Fritz, Mice, Soldiers, Lambs, Ginger, Angels, non-pointe roles.

Age 16 to adult, character roles: registration at 11:30 a.m. There will be no formal dance audition for this group (Party Guests, Clara's Parents, Grandparents, Maid, Butler).

Ages 12 and older, with a minimum of four years' ballet training (pointe roles and Second Act variations): registration at noon; audition from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., call-backs from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. if needed. Partnering work will be included in this audition. All male dancers should attend (Sugar Plum, Cavalier, Snowflakes, Flowers, Arabian, Chinese, Spanish, Trepak, Dolls, Marzipan, Clara).
