IT'S ABOUT THE ART

Observe artists at work, browse and purchase their work, attend artist talks and more at the third annual Plein Air-Easton Competition and Arts Festival, Monday-July 29 on the Eastern Shore. More than 50 artists from around the region will gather in Easton to participate in the event, which also features a "Quick Draw" competition, live entertainment and artist workshops.

The Plein Air-Easton Competition and Arts Festival runs 7 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-July 26, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. July 27-28 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. July 29 in Easton. Many events are free; some require a fee. Call 410-822-7297 or go to pleinair-easton.com for locations.

SURF THE TURF

Spend Saturday enjoying an afternoon of food, live music and activities at the second annual Surf and Turf Festival at the Carroll County Farm Museum in Westminster. Visitors can listen to live music from Big Cam and the Lifters, Poison Whiskey and Never Never, as well as food from the grill, cooking seminars, tours of the farmhouse and even mule-drawn wagon rides. There will also be artisan demonstrations and kids' old-time games, such as horseshoe-pitching and lawn checkers.

The Surf and Turf Festival runs noon-7 p.m. Saturday at the Carroll County Farm Museum, 500 S. Center St., Westminster. Admission is $5; $3 for ages 7-18 and ages 60 and older; free for ages 6 and younger. Call 410-386-3880 or go to carroll countyfarmmuseum.org.

HOLOCAUST HISTORY

Take a trip into history and learn more about the Holocaust by visiting an exhibit presented by the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, beginning Wednesday at the Enoch Pratt Free Library's central location. The exhibition, Fighting the Fires of Hate: America and the Nazi Book Burnings, will give insight into the Nazi book-burnings that took place beginning in 1933. The exhibit will be on display at the library through Oct. 1.

The exhibit will open Wednesday at the Enoch Pratt Free Library, Central Library, 400 Cathedral St. Free. Call 410-396-5430.
