M. Jane Jenkins, a homemaker who was active in religious affairs, died of pneumonia Saturday at Gilchrist Center for Hospice Care. She was 83.

Mary Jane Finn, who was known as Jane, was born in Baltimore and raised on Burke Avenue in Towson.

She was a 1940 graduate of Towson Catholic High School and attended Notre Dame College of Maryland and the old Mount St. Agnes College in Mount Washington.

During World War II, she worked at the Bendix radio plant on East Joppa Road in Towson.

A homemaker, Mrs. Jenkins enjoyed visiting local parish churches. She had been a member of the Sodality and the Altar Society of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Glyndon. She also had volunteered at the old Montrose School for Girls in Reisterstown.

The former Lutherville and Owings Mills resident had lived since last year at Oak Crest Village in Parkville. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and bridge.

She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Baltimore and Ware avenues in Towson, where a Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. today.

Surviving are her husband of 58 years, W. Armour Jenkins III, a retired quality control engineer; two sons, William Armour Jenkins IV of Ellicott City and J. Daniel Jenkins of Boulder, Colo.; four daughters, J. Ellen Harrington of Lutherville, Laura A. Jenkins of Towson, Barbara A. Smearman of Parkville and M. Courtney Donovan of Lutherville; a sister, Betty Magruder of Towson; and 10 grandchildren.
