Students' artwork on display at BWI
Two Carroll County elementary schools students have artwork on exhibit at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport on the Observation Level.
Mikayla Maksum, a kindergarten student at Parr's Ridge Elementary School, taught by Lisa Duvall; and Breanna Gomez, a fourth grade student at Taneytown Elementary School, taught by Pam Gowen, have work in the exhibit.
The exhibit includes artwork by students from nine counties around the state. Artwork for this juried exhibit was selected on quality, theme and its overall impact.
The exhibit will continue through mid-November.
Carroll native joins Air Force Academy
U.S. Sen. Barbara A. Mikulski has announced that Tamara Duff, a home-schooled student from Hampstead, has received an appointment to the Air Force Academy in Colorado.
Students must apply and go through an interview process to be appointed. Mikulski nominated 13 Maryland students for appointment to five military academies around the country.
Mikulski then recommends 10 names for each academy vacancy, and the academy offers as many appointments as space allows.
