Libraries announce summer activities

Carroll County Public Library branches are offering a variety of summer activities for all ages.

Programs include:

"Uncle Pete: UP with Kids" tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Mount Airy, 705 Ridge Ave., and 2 p.m. at Eldersburg, 6400 W. Hemlock Drive; Tuesday at 10 a.m. at North Carroll, 2255 Hanover Pike, Greenmount, and 2 p.m. at Taneytown, 10 Grand Drive; and 10 a.m. Wednesday at Westminster, 50 E. Main St. This interactive musical celebration will include a song written for the Summer Reading Programs, theme, Reading Road Trip.

"Paper Airplanes" at 2 p.m. tomorrow at North Carroll. Ages 7 to 11 can make a paper airplane and compete in an airplane throwing contest.

"Reading Road Fun Trip" at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Westminster. Children ages 7 to 10 will learn about the USA through games, songs, crafts and snacks.

"Purse-Palooza" at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Westminster for teens and adults. Take a purse or tote to decorate.

"Balloon Fun" at 2 p.m. Tuesday at North Carroll. Ages 10 and up can learn how to make balloon characters.

"T-Shirt Magic for Teens" at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Airy. Ages 11 to 17 can take a plain T-shirt to custom design.

"The Three Billy Goats Road Trip Puppet Show" for all ages will be presented both at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday at Taneytown and Thursday at Eldersburg; at 11:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday at Eldersburg; at 7 p.m. July 24, and 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. July 25 at Westminster; 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. July 26, and 11 a.m. July 27 at Mount Airy; and 10 a.m. July 31 at North Carroll. The billy goats have a problem crossing the troll bridge on their way to the beach. Find out how they solve the problem.

"Working With Guide Dogs" at 2 p.m. Thursday at North Carroll for all ages. Linda Cross, a volunteer for Guiding Eyes for the Blind, will discuss raising puppies as potential guide dogs.

"Bear Branch Nature Center Raptors" at 1 p.m. Friday at Westminster for ages 7 and older. A naturalist will show some of the raptors that live at the center.

"The Magic of Roger Lindsay" at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. July 24 at North Carroll.

"Read & Dance" at 11 a.m. July 24 at Taneytown for ages 2-3 with a caregiver. Kim Golliday of Taneytown Dance Center will show how to combine stories and movement.

"Live a Life You Love" at 7 p.m. July 25 at Eldersburg for adults. Professional Life Coach Rayne Schroeder will offer activities and tips on setting goals.

"KidWorks Presents Night at the Carnival" at 6:30 p.m. July 26 at Eldersburg for all ages. Books, songs and activities with a carnival theme will be featured.

"Tristar Martial Arts Demonstration" at 1:30 p.m. July 26 at Eldersburg, and 1 p.m. July 27 at Westminster.

"Live and in Person -- Tacky the Penguin" from 11 a.m. to noon July 27 at Eldersburg; and 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. July 31 at Mount Airy. Library mascot Corky also will visit. Most programs require registration at 410-386-4488.
