Upper Chesapeake Health will offer screenings for head, neck or oral cancer.
Anyone who has a lump or sore that will not heal, a sore throat that will not go away, difficulty swallowing or hoarseness can schedule a free screening with otolaryngologist Dr. Steven Marks.
Screenings will be held from 9 a.m. to noon July 17 at 615 W. MacPhail Road, Suite 205.

Seminar to focus on joint pain
Upper Chesapeake Health will hold a free seminar on joint pain with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Brian DeMuth from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. July 17 at Harford Memorial Hospital, in the side section of the cafeteria.
Participants can learn to improve their quality of life and discuss options for treating joint pain.

Healthlink offers variety of services
Upper Chesapeake Healthlink's Community Wellness Center at 626A Revolution St. in Havre de Grace offers free blood pressure, sleep disorder and body composition screenings.
Also available are cholesterol screenings for $10, osteoporosis screenings for $25, and full cardiac risk assessments for $20 (cash or check only).
No appointments required. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays. Because osteoporosis screenings require a scan of the bare foot, dress so that socks or stockings can be easily removed.

Harford nurses promoted at GBMC
Two nurses from Harford County have been promoted to administrative leadership positions at Greater Baltimore Medical Center.
Jody Porter, a registered nurse who holds a master's degree in business administration, has been promoted to senior vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer; she will lead the patient care services division.
Porter has been GBMC's vice president of nursing and chief nurse executive since 2002 and served as executive director for surgical services from 2001 to 2002.
Porter also assumes responsibility for the pharmacy, Kroh Digestive Disease Center, the wound care center and the hyperbaric medicine oxygen unit.
Susan Bowen, a registered nurse from Fallston, has been named administrative director of nursing for maternal and newborn health, a newly created position.
She previously served as clinical director of the labor and delivery unit.
Bowen will oversee all maternal and newborn health services. She has been a registered nurse for more than 20 years, including more than 15 in GBMC's labor and delivery department.
