Barbecue slated for Thursday

The Anne Arundel Tech Council is accepting registration for the third annual Comcast BBQ on the Bay Tech Expo from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation in Annapolis.

The cost is $50 for members; $65 for nonmembers; and $70 at the door.

The cost includes barbecue, and beer and wine tastings.

Chamber to hold mixer July 17

The Southern Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce will hold a business after-hours mixer from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 17 at Sandy Spring Bank, 116 Mitchells Chance Road, Edgewater.

West County Business Expo set

Registration is open for the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce's third annual Tour West County Business Expo.

The expo will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. July 17 at the Conference Center at the Maritime Institute, 692 Maritime Blvd., Linthicum Heights.

Accounting firm hosts students

Watkins, Meegan, Drury & Co. recently hosted 18 juniors and seniors from Huntingtown High School at its Annapolis office.

The company wanted to give students the opportunity to be exposed to the accounting business.

Students were lectured on the services the company offered, instructed to pick the area of accounting they would like to specialize in, and sent off into small groups with a company representative in their chosen specialty.

Arthritis Foundation leader wins award

Jan Thompson, president of the Maryland chapter of the Arthritis Foundation, has received the Volunteer of the Year award.

The award was presented at Community Health Charities of Maryland's 50th annual meeting. Thompson, who lives in Arnold, serves on Community Health Charities' board of directors.

Arts center has new deputy director

Davina Grace Hill has joined the Chesapeake Arts Center as deputy director.

Hill, who previously worked for the Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis, is a career arts administrator.

Grayson appoints sales managers

Grayson Homes has appointed Ralph F. Eccles as community sales manager for two Grayson 55 and older communities.

Eccles will join the sales team at Osprey Landing and Creekside at Osprey Landing in northern Anne Arundel County.

Eccles is a member of the Home Builders Association of Maryland. He lives in Howard County.

Grayson Homes has also appointed Aileen Fields as community sales manager for Maple Ridge in Odenton.

Fields will join the sales team at the 55 and older community in Piney Orchard.

Fields, who lives in Lutherville, is a licensed real estate agent and appraiser.
