Minerva L. Zimmerman, a homemaker and former Baltimore resident, died of an infection Wednesday at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown. She was 87.
The former Minerva Knode was born and raised in Boonsboro. She was a graduate of Boonsboro High School and during World War II worked as a seamstress at Frederick Tailoring Co. and at Koppers Co.
Mrs. Zimmerman, who had formerly lived in South Baltimore and Brooklyn, moved to Hagerstown in 1990.
She enjoyed crocheting and watching NASCAR races. She also was an avid fan of Wheel of Fortune and The Guiding Light.
Her husband of 56 years, Arthur G. Zimmerman, a retired postal worker, died in 1998.
She left her body to the Maryland Anatomy Board. No services are planned.
Surviving are four sons, David P. Zimmerman and James P. Zimmerman, both of Baltimore, Joseph A. Zimmerman of Hagerstown and Michael F. Zimmerman of Lynchburg, Va.; a daughter, Penny A. Zimmerman of Hagerstown; a brother, Frank Knode of Williamsport; three sisters, Esther Cheney of Frederick, Doris Reynold of Laurel and Junita Ralls of Melbourne, Fla.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
