White Sox update

Chicago has won six of its past seven games but remains one of the American League's biggest disappointments. The White Sox are 12 1/2 games behind the Indians in the AL Central and have a worse winning percentage than all but four teams in the AL. An anemic offense and a faulty bullpen have been mostly to blame for their struggles. Chicago is batting .237, the lowest in the majors. The White Sox are also last in the AL in runs, hits, total bases, doubles, triples and RBIs. First baseman Paul Konerko has shown signs of breaking out of his slump, hitting .308 (12-for-39) with four home runs and seven RBIs in his past 10 games. Chicago's bullpen has given up only two earned runs over 15 2/3 innings, but before that, it was 2-11 with an 8.12 ERA in 41 games between May 8 and June 24.
