A man was being held yesterday after firing at police officers on patrol in East Baltimore, police said.

According to Officer Troy Harris, a department spokesman, . two officers were on regular patrol near the intersection of Milton Avenue and East Biddle Street about 1 p.m. when they stopped to find out why a crowd was gathered outside the M&M; Lounge.

Adrian Jones, 19, of 2200 block of Petland Drive became nervous when he came out of the lounge and saw the officers, Harris said.

Jones ran, and the officers chased him on foot toward the 1200 block of N. Luzerne Ave. The suspect fired a shot at the officers as he turned the corner.

When Jones fell and dropped his gun, Harris said, the officers were able to catch him and secure the weapon.
