Anti-smoking help offered in Spanish
Two free publications can be downloaded from the Anne Arundel County Department of Health Web site to help Spanish speakers quit smoking.
Cambie un Habito is for adults and gives step-by-step directions for quitting smoking.
Medidas Extremas para Dejar de Fumar is designed for young men and compares quitting smoking to extreme sports.

Seniors can hear skin cancer talk
Anne Arundel Medical Center invites senior citizens to a lecture on skin cancer prevention and a complimentary dinner on July 10 in AAMC's Garden Cafe.
Healthy Skin Tips for Cancer Prevention is part of AAMC's Food for Thought series.
On the second Tuesday of each month, seniors are invited for a free cafeteria-style dinner at 5 p.m., followed at 6 p.m. by a talk on a health-related topic. In addition, those registered for the program receive 25 percent discounts on evening meals any weeknight at the Garden Cafe.
Future topics include "Nutrition for Disease Prevention" on Aug. 14 and "Dermatology: Skin and Aging" on Sept. 11.
Participants must be members of the AAMC Food for Thought program.

Grieving teens can join retreat
Hospice of the Chesapeake is accepting applications for Phoenix Rising, the weekend retreat for teens grieving the loss of a loved one.It will be held July 20 to 22 at Arlington Echo Outdoor Education Center, 975 Indian Landing Road in Millersville.
Designed for students in grades 9 to 12, Phoenix Rising provides a challenging and interactive program supported by a professional staff and team of trained volunteers to help teens:
Share feelings and memories in a safe, accepting environment
Discover they are not alone in this experience
Learn about grief
Explore appropriate coping strategies in dealing with grief
Make new friends and have fun

Hospice offers bereavement help
Hospice of the Chesapeake's Spiritual & Bereavement Care Center announces three support groups beginning in July.
For those 18 years and over who are grieving the death of a loved one, a six-week adult bereavement group will meet every Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 10 to Aug. 14. The registration fee is $60, except for families whose loved one was cared for by Hospice of the Chesapeake.
For those who are grieving the death of a spouse/life partner, a six-week adult bereavement group will meet every Wednesday afternoon from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. July 11 to Aug. 15. The registration fee is $60, except for families whose loved one was cared for by Hospice of the Chesapeake.
The registration deadline for The support groups is July 3.
All groups will be held at Hospice of the Chesapeake's Spiritual & Bereavement Care Center, 445 Defense Highway in Annapolis.
