Dennis Patrick Lantz Sr., a salesman and thoroughbred racing enthusiast, died Wednesday of a brain tumor at the Joseph Richey Hospice. The Baltimore Highlands resident was 41.
Born in Baltimore and raised in Pigtown, Mr. Lantz attended Southwestern High School and played baseball in youth leagues at Carroll Park.
As a teenager, he sold subscriptions to the old News American and later worked for Callen Publishing. Before his illness, he was a salesman for Allied Distributing in Westminster.
A sports fan, Mr. Lantz regularly attended Pimlico Race Course. He also had season tickets to the Orioles and followed the Ravens. He had been a member of a Glen Burnie bowling league.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Thomas Skarda Funeral Home, 2829 Hudson St.
Survivors include his wife of 10 years, the former Sarah Connelly; two sons, Dennis Lantz Jr. and David Lantz, both of the family home in Baltimore Highlands; a stepson, Nick Connelly of Baltimore Highlands; his mother, Thelma A. Lantz of Catonsville; a brother, Michael Lantz of Glen Burnie; and a sister, Cynthia Schoenback of Glen Burnie.
