Rodney Jones and the Mongoose Stunt Team are planning to visit Carroll Park's Skate Park tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow to teach extreme sports moves. The event -- which is free and open to the public -- comes in advance of the AST Dew Tour stop next week at the 1st Mariner Arena. The block party, which is sponsored by the Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks, will include youth and adult biking and skating contests, with prizes to be awarded to the winners. Carroll Park is at Bayard and Herkimer streets. Information: 410-396-7900.
Baltimore: Lake Montebello
Traffic lanes close Monday
City officials expect to temporarily close traffic starting Monday on Curran Drive from 32rd Street to Harford Road. The street closure comes as the $15 million project to dredge Lake Montebello nears completion, according to the city Department of Public Works. The street closure is expected to last until Aug. 15 as workers pave the roadway and install a median strip. During construction, pedestrians and motorists will be directed to Whitman Drive. Autos will be permitted to park in the curb lane of Whitman Drive because the Curran Drive parking lot will be inaccessible, city officials said.
