A Pylesville man has been charged with first-degree arson in connection with a fire at a Darlington house.
Jonathan McKinney, 26, is being held on $75,000 bond, authorities said.
About 1:45 a.m. Sunday, the two residents of a home in the 2600 block of Dublin Road saw a man fleeing from their burning house. The male tenant pursued the man and the female tenant suffered minor burns to her left arm while attempting to extinguish the flames, authorities said.
State fire officials said the fire was ignited in the house, but they declined to comment on a method. Darlington firefighters brought the blaze under control in less than five minutes.
Harford County sheriff's deputies found McKinney in a nearby wooded area. The state fire marshal also charged him with first-degree malicious burning, malicious destruction of property and breaking and entering. The investigation is continuing, said Deputy State Fire Marshal W. Faron Taylor.
The two-story house sustained $8,000 in damage, and the two tenants are temporarily displaced.
