Performer of Year
Matthew Centrowitz
Broadneck
Centrowitz is perhaps the best high school distance runner in Maryland history. He had big efforts at the Penn Relays, winning the mile this year and the 3,000 last year. The Oregon-bound senior clocked a time of 4 minutes, 4.09 seconds at states, which set a record in the 1,600, as he won convincingly against a talented field.
Coach of the Year
Nigel Holder
Meade
The top-ranked Mustangs were strong all season, answering every challenge and winning the Anne Arundel County, regional and Class 4A state titles. Even more impressive was the fact that they did it with only 12 boys on the team. Holder did a good job of spreading things around, and that's why Meade was so hard to beat.
