Registered sex offender is arrested in rape of girl, 12, from Pa.

Baltimore County police have arrested a registered sex offender who they say raped a 12-year-old girl during a camping trip in the Middle River area.

Keith Daniel Robinson, 22, who has no permanent address, registered as a sex offender after a 2005 conviction for a sex offense involving a 13-year-old girl, police said.

In early April, police say, the guardian of a 12-year-old girl from southern Pennsylvania allowed Robinson to take the girl on a camping trip in a wooded area by Bengies Drive-In theater on Eastern Boulevard.

The girl later told police that Robinson asked her to have sex with him and that after she turned him down twice, he raped her. Robinson threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone about the incident, according to charging documents.

A teacher at the girl's school went to authorities after overhearing two of the girl's classmates talking about the incident, the documents state. Robinson, arrested Wednesday police said, is charged with second-degree rape, second-degree child abuse and second-degree sex offense. He is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $500,000 bond.
