Theodora "Lola" Kapsambelis, a homemaker and church volunteer, died of complications from dementia Saturday at her Cockeysville home. She was 77.
Theodora Samiou was born and raised in Salonika, Greece. She was 19 when she immigrated in 1948 to Baltimore to live with an aunt and uncle.
She was a seamstress before her 1951 marriage to Angelo Kapsambelis. The couple lived in Dundalk for many years before moving to Cockeysville.
Mrs. Kapsambelis enjoyed making clothes for family members and volunteering at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, where she was known for the pastries she prepared for the church's annual festival.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at her church, 2504 Cub Hill Road, Parkville.
In addition to her husband, a retired Department of Defense electrical inspector, Mrs. Kapsambelis is survived by a son, Kenneth Kapsambelis of Parkville; two daughters, Gail Kapsambelis of Baltimore and Victoria Kapsambelis of Boston; a brother, Manolis Samiou of Salonika; and a granddaughter.
