Two get prison terms for bank robberies

A federal judge sentenced two Baltimore men to prison yesterday for robbing as many as nine banks throughout Maryland last year.

James Abu Bangura, 25, was sentenced to 12 1/2 years in prison. Co-defendant Dartanion Antwon Wallace, 25, received a prison term of four years and seven months. U.S. District Chief Judge Benson E. Legg ordered Bangura to pay $85,345 in restitution and Wallace $2,301.

According to the plea agreements presented to the court, Bangura admitted that he robbed nine banks in Baltimore, Silver Spring, Bethesda, White Marsh and Elkton. Wallace admitted that he participated in two robberies in August 2006 with Bangura, according to court papers.
